Distance today: 20.0 km (Accumulated: 20209.0 km)
Elapsed time: 01:52:24
Start 09:12am. at blue rd.marker "N2-18, 44", ca. 40km S. of Mthatha on the N2 to Cape Town. 28c, allm. clear and no wind. Finish 11:25am. At blue rd.marker "N2-18, 42", ca. 60km S. of Mthatha on the N2 to Cape Town. 30c and same.
The swelling of the right arm spread further tonight. Im concearned its a sign that the body is beginning to struggle w. the overall workload of the run: the infection comes from a fall/deep wound in the arn when running through the volcanic desert near Marsabit in Northern Kenya nearly 1/2 a year ago. It became infected & very swollen while running in tough conditions in Tanzania and the international clinic in Dar Es Salaam had to make a small operation to solve it. Unfortunatety the infection ofthat arm has now begun, but faster this time. Since the conditions here in S. Africa, including the Transkei area, is Much better & easier to handle than any place I ran through in East Africa - It looks like the bodys ability too keep infections at bay has decreased.
Cape Town seems far away now !
